Data purge function in MAS 500

We are running MAS 500 7.60.5, 

we are considering to execute the house keeping job with standard purge function in different modules, SO/PO/GL/IM/AR/AP, etc., 
but seems there has problems in previous version, 5 years ago, refer to sage communities,

does anyone tried with recent version, is it safe to use it now? Thanks!
